According to aluminum alloy can be divided into deformed aluminum alloy and cast aluminum alloy according to the processing method, and the number of aluminum and aluminum alloy is mainly divided into eight series.
International grades (with four Arabic numerals, commonly used):
- 1XXX indicates the pure aluminum series of 99% or more, such as 1050, 1100
- 2XXX indicates aluminum-copper alloy series, such as 2014
- 3XXX means aluminum-manganese alloy series, such as 3003
- 4XXX means aluminum-silicon alloy series, such as 4032
- 5XXX means aluminum-magnesium alloy series, such as 5052
- 6XXX means aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy series, such as 6061, 6063
- 7XXX means aluminum-zinc alloy series such as 7001
- 8XXX means alloy system other than above
Among all series, 1000 series aluminum is one of the series with the most aluminum content, and the purity can reach 99.00% or more.
1000 series aluminum sheet determines the minimum aluminum content of this series according to the last two Arabic numerals, for example, the last two Arabic numerals of 1050 series are 50, and according to the international grade naming principle, the aluminum content must reach 99.5% or more to be qualified products.
1000 series of aluminum has good formability and surface treatment, and its corrosion resistance is the best among aluminum alloys. Its strength is low, and the higher the purity, the lower the strength.
The commonly used ones in cell phones are 1050, 1070, 1080, 1085, 1100, which are made by simple extrusion molding (without bending), among which 1050 and 1100 can be made by chemical sanding, glossy surface, matte surface, normal effect, with more obvious material pattern and good coloring effect; 1080 and 1085 mirror aluminum are often used to make bright letters and matte effect, without obvious material pattern.
1000 series of aluminum are relatively soft, mainly used to do decorative parts or interior parts.
2000 series aluminum alloy represents 2024, 2A16 and 2A02. 2000 series aluminum sheet contains about 3-5% copper.
2000 series aluminum bar belongs to the aviation aluminum, used as the construction material, currently not often used in the conventional industry.
3000 series aluminum bar is made of manganese element as the main component.
3000 series aluminum alloy represents 3003, 3105 , 3A21 mainly. The content is between 1.0 and 1.5, which is a series with good rustproof function.
It is commonly used as tanks and jars for liquid products, construction processing parts, construction tools, various light fixture parts, and various pressure vessels and pipes for thin plate processing. The formability, solubility and corrosion resistance are good.
Usually the silicon content is between 4.5-6.0%, the silicon content is relatively high when the high strength is relatively high.
4000 series aluminum bar represents 4A01, 4000 series aluminum plate belongs to the series with higher silicon content. Good soup flow, less solidification shrinkage, is a material for construction, mechanical parts, forging materials, welding materials; low melting point, good corrosion resistance, with heat-resistant, wear-resistant characteristics.
5000 series aluminum bar belongs to the more common alloy aluminum plate series, the main element is magnesium, the magnesium content is between 3-5%.
5000 series aluminum alloy represents 5052, 5005, 5083, 5A05 series. It can also be called aluminum-magnesium alloy.
The main characteristics are low density, high tensile strength and high elongation. The weight of aluminum and magnesium alloy is lower than other series in the same area, and it is also more widely used in the conventional industry.
The most commonly used in cell phones is 5052, the most representative alloy of medium strength, corrosion resistance, solubility and good formability, especially high fatigue strength, good seawater resistance, often used to do the products with high strength requirements, but its coloring effect is not ideal, suitable for sandblasting process, not suitable for chemical sanding, matte surface, etc., mainly using the casting molding molding method, not suitable for extrusion molding.
6000 series aluminum alloy represents 6061, which mainly contains magnesium and silicon. 6000 series aluminum alloy concentrates the advantages of 4000 series and 5000 series.
6061 is a cold treated forged aluminum product suitable for applications requiring high resistance to corrosion and oxidation. It is easy to use, easy to coat, and has good workability.
More used in cell phones are 6061 and 6063, where the strength of 6061 is higher than 6063, using casting molding, which can cast a more complicated structure, and can do parts with snaps, such as battery covers, etc.

7000 series aluminum alloy represents 7075, which mainly contains zinc element.
It is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy, which is a heat-treatable alloy and a super hard aluminum alloy with good wear resistance. At present, it is basically imported, and the production process in China still needs to be improved.

8000 series aluminum alloy is more commonly used as 8011, which belongs to other series, mostly used as aluminum foil and less commonly used in the production of aluminum rods.
